Players looking for some value low-stakes online poker tournaments should mark their diaries for the Micro Online Poker Series soon to start at Carbon Poker.
Carbon Poker´s micro Online Poker Series is scheduled to run from this Sunday (March 23) and – unlike “mini” poker series hosted on some other poker websites – has been especially constructed to include a variety of tournaments that will appeal to low-stake players; rather than just being a mirror image of the site´s recently hosted “full buy-in” series.
The micro-OPS series comprises of twenty-five tournaments with buy-ins starting at $0.11, and has a Main Event with a $15,000 guaranteed prize pool for just an $11.00 buy-in (or 1,100 Carbon VIP Points or an $11.00 tournament ticket). However, what is exceptional about this series of Carbon Poker´s Micro Online Poker Series is the range of games that is included.
Carbon Micro-OPS Details
Included in the schedule for Carbon Poker´s Micro-OPS are mixed games of poker (HORSE and Pot Limit Hold´em/Omaha), bounty tournaments, turbo re-buys, deepstack events and “AIOF” (“All In or Fold”) tournaments, which work well when the buy-ins are $1.10 or $2.20 and you are playing for a guaranteed prize of $250.00 or $500.00.
Interestingly, one the second most valuable tournaments on the schedule is a Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo event (#9), which will be played next Tuesday (March 25th @ 8.30pm) and offers a $4,000 guaranteed prize pool for an $11.00 buy-in. This is one of the tournaments that will be ear-marked by value hunters because of the potential for an overlay.
How Much Value Will There Be in Micro OPS?
In February´s COPS poker tournament series, Carbon Poker failed to meet its guarantee in 22 of 84 events for nearly $40,000 in overlays. While that sort of value is unlikely to be repeated with such low buy-ins, many of the midweek tournaments, and indeed the Main Event itself, look favourite to be under-subscribed – especially since Carbon Poker has recently reduced the length of late registration in many of its tournaments.
There is sure to be value in each of the $0.11 buy-in freezeouts in which Carbon Poker have added $500.00 to the prize money, but we also suggest that value hunters pay keen attention to Wednesday night´s $2.20 deepstack 6-Max tournament (#11) and Friday night´s $5.50 HORSE tournament (#17) in addition to the Omaha Hi/Lo event (#9) and the Main Event (#23).
The Micro OPS Schedule
The schedule for Carbon Poker´s Micro-OPS has three events planned for each of the first seven days and four on the concluding Sunday (March 30). The tournaments are timed to start closely together (for example on weekdays at 7.30pm, 8.00pm and 8.30pm) with a larger gap between events – and earlier start – on the opening Sunday, and then four clustered together on the concluding Sunday.
