South Point Casino´s RealGaming.com Goes Live in Nevada

RealGaming.comRealGaming.com became the third website to offer online poker to players in Nevada when it soft-launched this week – following Ultimate Poker and WSOP.com.

The third online poker site serving players in Nevada – RealGaming.com – soft-launched quietly this week, eighteen months after its parent company South Point Casino was first awarded an operating license by the Nevada Gaming Commission.

Numerous reasons have been given for the delay – from developing the poker software from scratch to re-branding the original product – but, according to South Point CEO Michael Gaughan, the most important consideration that was taken into account was to get it right.

Multi-Platform Gaming Software

Gaughan´s aim was to develop a web-based poker client that would operate across multiple platforms and be the foundation for future development as the online poker market in Nevada grows with the introduction of compacts between States.

Consequently, RealGaming.com is available to players in Nevada on PC and Mac computers, Smart Phones and tablets, and works on both the iPhone and mobile devices with Android operating systems. Real Gaming´s technology expert Lawrence Vaughan said:

The true differentiator of Real Gaming is that players can access the site on any device, anywhere and anytime. We felt that this was the top priority to bring to online poker playing.

A Poker Site for the Social Generation

The Real Gaming poker software feels similar to a social networking site with visitors having the opportunity to complete a player profile, use a dedicated messaging service to communicate with friends, and access a gallery area of profile pictures to see who is online.

The real money poker games being offered during the soft-launch period consist of full-ring cash games of NL Texas Hold´em – with stakes starting at $0.01/$0.02 and rising to $5.00/$10.00 – and a small selection of Sit n Go and multitable tournaments.

Features to be Released in Stages

Gaughan also revealed that not all of RealGaming´s features have been released yet and that, once the site´s soft-launch is complete, there are no plans for major promotions or a large-scale marketing campaign.

The site does have a Real Rewards loyalty program in place – a rewards program which awards Real Rewards Points to players who contribute to the rake deducted from cash game pots, or who pay fees to enter a Sit n Go or multitable poker tournament. The points can then be converted into cash to boost a player´s bankroll.

Whether this will be enough for RealGaming.com to attract players away from Ultimate Poker and WSOP.com only time will tell. RealGaming.com´s soft-launch period is expected to last about a month, during which time the South Point Casino hopes it is able to prove to the Nevada Gaming Control Board that its technology works.
