The Online Super Series II, which concluded on Sunday on Americas Cardroom more than covered its ambitious series $1 million guarantee it was announced yesterday.
Americas Cardroom – and other skins on the growing Winning Poker Network – hosted a series of 82 events from January 13th through January 27th, with three feature weekend tournaments that had guarantees of $100,000, $150,000 and $200,000 accounting for almost half of the $1 million on offer.
Despite fears that the climax to the series – the $200,000 guaranteed Main Event – was going to be massively under-subscribed, 700 players entered and re-entered or qualified through the 100 seats super satellite on Saturday, to leave the $215.00 buy-in event prize pool short of its goal by just $6,600.
When the maths was done after the last of the tournaments had completed late registration, a record number of players had contributed $1,308,702.49 to the prize pools – a staggering $220,000 more than what had been guaranteed and a fantastic result for a network which is still comparatively small.
Good Two Weeks for Winning Poker Players
The last two weeks have been unbelievably lucrative for our players, said Americas Cardroom spokesperson Michael Harris.
With over $1.3 million in payouts, OSS II was our most rewarding tournament series to date. The site will continue to reward players for their loyalty throughout February, with the progressive jackpot “Beast” promotion starting again on Friday.
