The calendar has turned to June 21 marking the first day of summer and the launch of a $1 million giveaway at Nevada’s Ultimate Poker.
As the lone real-money Internet poker offering in the Silver State, Ultimate Poker aims to develop a loyal customer base before the competiton arrives later this summer and in following months. That competition will likely come next in the form of WSOP.com, who has begun their own marketing blitz with heavy advertising throughout the Rio in Las Vegas where the 44th annual WSOP has reached the mid-way point of its scheduled 62 events.
In an effort to keep Ultimate Poker players loyal and happy, the “Million Dollar Summer” promotion begins with a $50 bonus. Players that deposit $50 by 11:59 pm on Saturday, June 22 and participate in cash game action of 100 raked hands or more by 11:59 pm on Monday, June 24 will receive a $50 cash bonus on Wednesday, June 26.
Players can also earn additional cash by grabbing a free Ultimate poker patch from either the Palace Station Hotel and Casino, Green Valley Ranch Resort and Spas, or the Red Rock Casino Resort Spa. Donning the UP patch and tweeting a photograph of themselves playing poker at a live table to @ultimatepoker will ensure player eligibility to the Patch M.E. promotion.
That promo is giving $100 to two winners everyday chosen from the best tweets. The $100 winners also obtain free entry to UP’s $15,000 Main Event Freeroll. Capped at 90 players, the freeroll rewards the champion with a seat to this year’s WSOP Main Event. While $10,000 of the freeroll prize pool goes to the buy-in toward that seat in poker’s most prestigious tournament, the remaining $5,000 will be distributed to the other eight final tablists. Don’t forget to use the hashtag #PatchME when tweeting your picture.
UP’s summer bonanza also includes players who have been busily achieving VIP status since its April 30 launch. Select VIPs will receive tokens into their Ultimate Poker accounts that can be used at invitation only SitNGos. The Invite Only SitNGo tourneys offer a $500 prize to winners.
After a rocky start, action at Ultimate Poker tables is now in full swing nearly two months following its historic debut. The competition for market share in the first regulated state allowing online poker is expected to be fierce considering the number of interactive gaming licenses issued by Nevada gaming regulators. After WSOP.com joins the mix in coming weeks, other offerings by the likes of Treasure Island and South Point Poker are expected to follow.
While the online poker market in Nevada will likely be crowded, future interstate and international compact agreements should allow the Nevada real money sites to enjoy a viable online poker scheme. No such compacts have been signed to this date, but those agreements are anticipated in due course after the state legislature and Governor Brian Sandoval have worked diligently approving the required regulations.
Residents and tourists of Nevada currently have Ultimate Poker as the only regulated online poker option. But Americans throughout the country have a considerable amount of choices available among U.S.-facing poker sites. Several of these offer quick and convenient deposit and withdrawal methods.
